About the position

The Postdoc Research Associate position at the McGinty Lab, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is designed for skilled individuals in structural biology, biochemistry, or chemical biology. The role focuses on conducting independent research related to chromatin regulation and its implications in human diseases, particularly cancer. The associate will work within a multidisciplinary team to express and purify recombinant proteins and DNA, utilizing advanced techniques such as cryo-electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research on proteins regulating chromatin structure and function.
  • Express and purify recombinant proteins and DNA for structural biology experiments.
  • Utilize single particle cryo-electron microscopy and/or X-ray crystallography in research projects.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advance knowledge in chromatin research.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Prior experience with molecular biology and protein expression and purification.
  • Demonstrated high productivity through exemplary publication records.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with structural biology techniques.
  • Knowledge of peptide or protein chemistry.
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry.
