The Postdoc Research Associate position at Iowa State University is a full-time, NIH-funded role in the MacIntosh lab, focusing on the study of lysosomal proteins and their roles in endocytosis and lipid transport in Drosophila. This research is particularly relevant to understanding lysosomal disorders, including Parkinson's disease. The lab employs a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing techniques such as microscopy, metabolomics, and transcriptomics to explore metabolic pathways that influence the acidification of the endocytic pathway and the role of these processes in lipid transport and homeostasis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research projects while also developing their own independent research initiatives. In addition to research responsibilities, the position offers mentorship opportunities, allowing the postdoc to assist in training junior investigators within the lab. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, or a related field, who is eager to engage in creative and original research. The lab seeks candidates with a strong interest in lipid biology, molecular biology, imaging, bioinformatics, systems biology, cell biology, and animal models of disease. Excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential for success in this position.
