About the position

The Postdoctoral Associate in Cancer Biology will work in Dr. Putluri's laboratory, focusing on cancer progression, particularly bladder cancer. The role involves conducting laboratory research, analyzing data, and collaborating on multidisciplinary cancer-related projects. The associate will also develop new models and techniques to support ongoing research, document experimental procedures, and assist in the daily operations of the lab. This position emphasizes translational tumor research, utilizing various pre-clinical models and advanced methodologies in cancer metabolism and tumorigenesis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Collaborates with scientists outside the lab for multidisciplinary studies in cancer-related projects.
  • Develops new models and techniques to support cancer-related research in the lab.
  • Documents experimental procedures in precise detail.
  • Collects and compiles imaging data.
  • Assists in the day-to-day operation of running a scientific research lab.
  • Attends lab meetings, documents weekly and monthly data.
  • Performs independent research in the field of cancer metabolism.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information for specific studies.
  • Writes IACUC, IRB, and IBC reports and ensures they are kept updated.
  • Performs sample extraction for metabolomics and uses mass spectrometry instrumentation as needed.
  • Demonstrates competency in method development, execution, data analysis, and interpretation of metabolomics profiling.

Requirements

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in tissue culture and basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA purification, Western blot).
  • Experience with handling animal models, including performing/maintaining therapeutic experiments using mouse models.
  • Experience with LCMS or cancer metabolism.
