About the position

The Postdoctoral Associate position in the Tran lab at Baylor College of Medicine focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and axon regeneration in the central nervous system (CNS). The role involves leading research projects that aim to enhance understanding of neuronal resilience and promote neuroprotection and regeneration in the adult CNS, particularly through the study of retinal ganglion cells. The successful candidate will have access to advanced technology cores and resources within the Texas Medical Center, facilitating high-impact research in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organized daily electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Meet with Dr. Tran to discuss their work.
  • Present results in professional forums (seminars, meetings, and conferences).
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Perform assigned general laboratory chores.

Requirements

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong academic training in genetics and neurobiology
  • Demonstrated interest in vision science, neurodegeneration, and/or axon regeneration
  • Experience in animal surgery, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology
  • Experience in bioinformatics and single-cell genomics a plus
