About the position

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist Dr. Han Ma in the department of Physics and Astronomy. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct active research in theoretical physics and related disciplines at the highest international levels and be actively engaged on an ongoing basis in all associated aspects of research including, among other things, publishing papers and attending workshops and seminars.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct active research in theoretical physics and related disciplines.
  • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search.
  • Utilize specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
  • Enhance the overall research environment at the condensed matter group and physics department.
  • Organize seminars, journal clubs, and conferences.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals.
  • Assist in grant writing.
  • Attend scientific conferences and meetings.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Physics or a closely related discipline, in hand by the start of the appointment.
  • Evidence of effectively communicating research through conference presentations and/or journal papers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Significant experience in strongly correlated systems, such as quantum spin liquid and non-fermi liquid.
  • Strong background in quantum field theory.
  • Proficient in conducting research, giving seminars, and writing papers.
