About the position

The Hinman lab at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scientist to join their research team. The focus of this position is on studying the evolution of developmental gene regulation in echinoderms, utilizing comparative single cell transcriptomics to identify conserved gene regulatory network modules and explore network co-option in the context of novel trait evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the evolution of developmental gene regulation in echinoderms.
  • Utilize comparative single cell transcriptomics to identify conserved gene regulatory network modules.
  • Explore network co-option in the context of novel trait evolution.
  • Collect, process, and analyze single nucleus RNA-seq data.
  • Perform microinjection and in situ hybridization techniques.
  • Manage echinoderm husbandry.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent in biological sciences or a related field.
  • Background in echinoderm development.
  • Experience in collecting, processing, and analyzing single nucleus RNA-seq data.
