About the position

Savannah State University, established in 1890, is the first public historically black college or university in Georgia and the first institution of higher learning in Savannah. The university offers a vibrant residential campus with a focus on quality academic programs, engaging lectures, and cutting-edge research. The Department of Engineering Technology is inviting applications for a postdoctoral research associate position, which is primarily focused on teaching, scholarship through applied research, and industry engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for publishing research findings in scientific journals and conference papers, developing curriculum, and teaching introductory undergraduate courses in cybersecurity. Additionally, the postdoctoral research associate will mentor undergraduate student research assistants and engage in various grant-related activities. This position is grant-funded, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding. The candidate may also be required to perform other job-related tasks as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and teaches two undergraduate level courses per semester.
  • Collaborates with Project Director (PD) and co-PD in research related to the Cybersecurity program.
  • Publishes and disseminates research findings related to cybersecurity.
  • Mentors undergraduate students in conducting research activities in cybersecurity.
  • Writes grant proposals and engages in other grant-related activities with Project Director (PD) and co-PD.

Requirements

  • A Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate level teaching and research.
  • Strong theoretical and/or experimental background related to cybersecurity.
  • Good skills in writing scientific papers and technical reports.
