The Columbia University, Robert N Butler Columbia Aging Center is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to aid in grant writing, statistical analysis, and day-to-day data management associated with multiple concurrent research projects of the Aiello Research Group. The Aiello Research Group focuses on understanding the interaction and influence of social and biological factors on long-term health outcomes. This includes examining the effects of socioeconomic position, stress, and infection on chronic disease and mental health outcomes. Additionally, the group investigates preventive measures aimed at reducing infectious disease transmission in community settings, particularly through non-pharmaceutical interventions. The overarching goal is to mitigate social disparities in infection, chronic disease, and mental health by conducting integrative research across various disciplines such as epidemiology, gerontology, sociology, infectious diseases, immunology, and laboratory research. In this role, the Post-Doctoral Research Scientist will collaborate on or lead statistical analyses for scientific presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications, producing tables and figures based on study results. The scientist will work closely with the principal investigator, project director, associate research scientist, student researchers, and other collaborators to develop and execute clear, well-documented research projects and manuscripts. Responsibilities also include performing data auditing across multiple projects, assisting with quality control, and identifying appropriate variables for proposed analyses. The scientist will create datasets for new projects and integrate new variables with existing datasets as needed. Furthermore, the role involves assisting or developing grant proposals, conducting literature reviews, and running preliminary analyses. Administrative tasks related to research, such as managing IRBs, MTAs, DUAs, and progress reports, will also be part of the responsibilities. The scientist is expected to take the initiative to acquire new statistical and/or programming skills as needed.
