About the position

The Postdoctoral Scientist at the Smidt Heart Institute is responsible for conducting advanced laboratory research in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists. This role involves performing both routine and sophisticated laboratory procedures, analyzing and interpreting data, and potentially assisting in the preparation of grant proposals. The position is integral to advancing heart disease research and improving patient outcomes through innovative techniques and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile data.
• Perform routine and sophisticated laboratory procedures throughout the training period.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject interactions as it pertains to research.

Requirements

• Doctorate (MD, PhD, DVM, or DDS) in an area directly related to the field of research specialization.
• 1-5 years of post-doctoral appointment experience.
• Technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives acquired through training.
• Demonstrated ability to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection and analysis.
• Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
