The Postdoctoral Research Scientist position at Columbia University's Climate School focuses on studying the coupling of interactive ice sheet models within the GISS Earth System Model, particularly ice-ocean interactions. Responsibilities

  • Study the coupling of interactive ice sheet models within the GISS Earth System Model.
  • Concentrate on ice-ocean coupling to enhance model fidelity.
  • Produce credible sea level projections for future and paleo-climate contexts.
  • Present research findings at professional meetings.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and broader team efforts.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Atmospheric or Ocean Science or a related field (recently obtained or nearing completion).
  • Experience with large scale physics-based models.
  • Familiarity with modern Fortran and/or C programming languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the Parallel Ice Sheet Model (PISM) is desirable.
