About the position

The Karlstaedt Lab at Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to engage in a collaborative project focused on understanding metabolic interactions between cancer cells and the heart. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team and utilizing advanced techniques in metabolic research, particularly in relation to leukemia and solid tumors. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop innovative research strategies and establish in vivo mouse models to study metabolic changes in the heart during cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of grant proposals, but not responsible for generating grant funds.
  • Participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
  • Design and perform experiments, keeping appropriate experimental records and documentation.
  • Develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.
  • Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile data.
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout the training period.
  • Operate and maintain equipment and instruments.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in a field directly related to research specialization.
  • Ability to work independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI).
  • Thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during a 1-5 year post-doctoral appointment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
  • Knowledge of mass spectrometry, tracer studies, and transgenic mouse models.
  • Expertise in biological data science, data-driven discovery, scientific programming, and omics data analysis.
