About the position
The Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Tech invites applications for 2 (two) Postdoctoral Sr. Research Associates positions beginning in August 2024. This is a two-year term appointment with both research and teaching responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates whose expertise aligns and strengthens the research of the Department. The successful candidates must have a PhD degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates must have demonstrated the potential for excellent research that has a connection with one or more of our existing faculty members. Prospective applicants are encouraged to identify one or more faculty members in our department with whom they might collaborate. Candidates must also have demonstrated a strong dedication to excellent teaching.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in applied mathematics, statistics, and related fields.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and statistics.
- Collaborate with faculty members on research projects.
- Mentor students in research and academic pursuits.
Requirements
- PhD degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated potential for excellent research.
- Strong dedication to excellent teaching.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in applied analysis, computational mathematics, data science, discrete mathematics, financial mathematics, stochastics, and statistics.
- Previous teaching experience at the university level.
