About the position

The Postdoctoral Staff Therapist position at the UIC Counseling Center is designed for postdoctoral clinicians who have completed their doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and are pursuing licensure hours. This role focuses on providing therapy, supervision, and training to a diverse student population, emphasizing cultural humility, inclusion, and social justice. The position offers a breadth of clinical experience, with opportunities to specialize in specific areas of interest while engaging in outreach and consultation activities.

Responsibilities

• Direct clinical work of 21-23 hours per week, including 2-3 Initial Consultations, 1 hour of same-day appointments, 14 hours of psychotherapy, and up to 3 hours of group therapy co-leadership.
• Provide 1 Crisis Consultation hour per week for urgent student needs and consultation to staff and faculty.
• Supervise two advanced doctoral psychotherapy externs on half of their individual psychotherapy caseload.
• Co-lead a training seminar informed by the therapist's specialty interests.
• Develop and provide 3 outreach programs throughout the year and participate in informational presentations and orientation activities.
• Present in the Professional Issues Seminar for trainees and staff on a topic of expertise.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and serve on the Postdoctoral Fellowship search committee.

Requirements

• Completion of a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program prior to the start of the position.
• Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship.
• Previous experience providing direct supervision in a clinical setting.
• Professional experience working within a cultural humility, inclusion, and social justice framework.
