About the position

Insight Global is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to support an enterprise-class environment for their Lottery/Gaming client's Play Digital team. This remote role involves managing PostgreSQL database systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support PostgreSQL database management systems in an enterprise-class environment.
• Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL databases.
• Design and optimize database schemas, tables, indexes, and queries for performance and scalability.
• Implement robust backup and recovery strategies, including regular backups and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor and manage database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks and configure high availability solutions such as replication.
• Implement database security best practices, including access control and compliance standards.
• Diagnose and resolve database-related issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Perform database capacity planning and trend analysis, utilizing scripting and automation tools.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including developers and system administrators.
• Build high-quality documentation, including database designs and troubleshooting guides.
• Perform security log reviews for audit compliance and escalate anomalies as needed.
• Deliver training, mentoring, and coaching to other Database Administrators.
• Provide on-call rotational 24/7 incident response to database alerts.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience managing PostgreSQL databases in a Linux environment.
• Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL utilities.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS, including PostgreSQL migrations and deployments.
• Familiarity with managing versions and deployments in both RDS and on-premise servers.
• Skilled in writing shell scripts (Linux, Python).
• Proficient with various database monitoring tools.
• Capable of managing the entire database lifecycle, including applying patches, upgrades, and routine maintenance.
• Understanding of database security best practices, including access control and compliance standards.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers and system administrators.
• Experience with configuring and maintaining high availability solutions such as replication.
• Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of database schemas, tables, indexes, and queries.
• Experience with scripting and automation tools to streamline database administration tasks.
