About the position
The Wyandanch Union Free School District is seeking a talented and dynamic Spanish teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This position will be split between Milton L. Olive Middle School and Wyandanch High School, with the teacher responsible for providing engaging and rigorous instruction in Spanish to students. The ideal candidate will inspire a passion for language acquisition and demonstrate a commitment to innovative teaching practices and interdisciplinary curriculum development. The role requires a strong understanding of the needs of multicultural students and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning styles. The Spanish teacher will develop and implement lesson plans that align with New York State Standards, focusing on grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and cultural aspects of the Spanish language. Continuous professional development is expected, and the teacher will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the educational experience. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the educational goals of the district. Candidates must hold a valid New York State Spanish 7-12 Certification, and dual certification is considered a plus. This position reports directly to the building principals of both schools and is designed for the entire 2024-2025 school year, starting on September 23, 2024, with an application deadline of September 5, 2024.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong instruction to students aligned to NYS Standards at the M.L.O. Middle School and the Wyandanch Memorial High School
- Understand the needs of multicultural students
- Develop & implement lesson plans that adhere to curriculum standards and teach Spanish language grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and culture
- Attend ongoing professional learning
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to enhance the educational experience
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Valid NYS Spanish 7-12 Certification
- Dual Certification is a plus
