About the position

The Powder Painter position at Hartford Finishing involves applying protective and decorative coatings to workpiece surfaces using spray guns. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintaining production quality standards. Responsibilities

  • Apply coatings such as paint or lacquer to protect or decorate workpiece surfaces using spray guns.
  • Responsible for mixing and cleanup of paint.
  • Match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
  • Set-up, clean, maintain, and adjust equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems at the paint line.
  • Maintain production rates and quality standards.
  • Check and identify worn parts on spray guns to ensure proper function.
  • Examine finished surfaces to verify conformance to specifications; retouch if necessary.
  • Clean surfaces of workpieces in preparation for coating.
  • Rinse, drain or wipe coated workpieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on workpiece.
  • Place coated workpieces in ovens or dryers for specified times in order to dry or harden finishes.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail to ensure all surfaces are covered without paint runs.
  • Experience with a high volume low pressure pot and airless spray guns.
  • Good math skills.
  • Safe and efficient handling of materials is imperative.
  • Must have and wear protective gear designated for the Department and job.
  • Ability to stand for all or most of a regular work shift, as well as reach, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Visual acuity to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
