Power BI Analyst

About the position

Forward Air is seeking a Power BI Analyst who will take a leadership role in developing and managing complex data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and accuracy. This role is crucial in advancing our business intelligence capabilities and enabling key stakeholders to make informed decisions based on reliable data insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex Power BI reports and dashboards, incorporating rate calculations and performance optimization techniques
• Familiar with UI design and developing interactive dashboards and reports that lead users to conclusions and action.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to understand data needs. Analyzing and cleaning datasets to uncover trends and insights.
• Stakeholder Management: Work with Business stakeholders, including department heads and executive leadership, to gather requirements, deliver insights, and propose BI solutions that align with strategic business objectives
• Strategic Data Integration: Collaborate closely with internal data engineers and architects to integrate, transform, and optimize data from multiple sources, ensuring high accuracy, security, and performance
• Documentation and Best Practices: Establish and maintain clear documentation for BI processes, data models, and reporting standards, driving adherence to best practices and compliance with industry regulations
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and techniques in data visualization and analytics, proposing and implementing enhancements to the organization's BI capabilities
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in Power BI development, data visualization, and business intelligence, with proven success in delivering advanced analytical solutions in a complex environment, preferably in a transportation or logistics environment
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, including writing SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Python or R including familiarity with writing scripts for data management and manipulation.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft excel including the ability to read and write complex formulas.
• Strong command of data visualization, modeling, and transformation techniques
• Proven ability to lead BI projects from design through delivery including requirements gathering
• Prior experience Transportation Logistics is preferred
