About the position

The Power BI Analyst at AlixPartners is a full-time role within the Strategic Finance team, focusing on leveraging financial and operational data to create insightful reports and dashboards. This position is crucial for enabling business decision-making and supporting the firm's global strategy. The analyst will take ownership of projects, collaborate with various teams, and ensure the delivery of data analytics solutions that meet internal needs. The role emphasizes continuous learning and development, providing an opportunity to grow within a professional organization known for its innovation and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into clear, accurate, and actionable design/implementation plans.
  • Create models, specifications, workflows, and diagrams that contribute to the successful delivery of data analytics solutions and technology.
  • Develop semantic models, analytical models, reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards using Power BI and other tools in alignment with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and other functions throughout the development lifecycle, enforcing best practices and refining requirements as necessary.
  • Provide support for existing solutions and services offered by the Strategic Finance Data and Technology team.
  • Test and validate deliverables for completeness and data accuracy.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues, collaborating with business functions to determine root causes and propose functional solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field preferred, or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience designing and developing dashboards and reports; at least 1 year using Power BI.
  • Advanced experience in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and M Query; certification in Power BI is preferred.
  • Ability to work with complex and sometimes ambiguous data.
  • Solid understanding of security models in Power BI and the ability to implement row-level restrictions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with SQL scripting is a must.
  • Experience with R and Python is preferred.
  • Prior experience with financial or operational data analysis in a consulting or professional services firm is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet delivery commitments while maintaining accuracy.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers.
  • Solid understanding and proven experience in requirements definition and management techniques including business process, use case, workflow, and data modeling.
  • Proven analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
