About the position

The Power BI Data Analyst at OUC is responsible for supporting and maintaining Power BI reports, modernizing them, and assisting with data analytics projects. This role involves performing routine and ad-hoc data analysis to identify actionable business insights and performance gaps, enabling data-driven strategic decisions across the organization. The analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain Power BI reports and modernize them.
  • Handle Power BI requests and questions.
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc data analysis to identify actionable business insights.
  • Participate in the creation, validation, and implementation of statistical models.
  • Translate quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights and present findings to management.
  • Assist in identifying trends and actionable insights from data analysis.
  • Participate in the recommendation and implementation of best practices related to data usage and reporting standards.
  • Communicate the significance of statistical findings using business terminology.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in decisions related to data modeling and governance.
  • Perform routine data mining for new business insights and interpret data.
  • Prepare, update, and present routine visualizations, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Identify and escalate data anomalies that might affect accuracy.
  • Generate routine scheduled and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science/Analytics, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in data analytics and reporting.
  • Experience in data analysis techniques and data visualization tools (Power BI).
  • Completed Microsoft Certification: Power BI Data Analyst and passed the PL-300 exam (highly preferred).
  • Proficient in SQL or Python.

Nice-to-haves

  • Utility industry experience (preferred).
  • Advanced skills in MS Access including relational table joins and data transformation (preferred).
  • Intermediate level skills in reporting tools like Cognos, OBIEE, or Crystal (preferred).
