About the position

The Power BI Data Engineer position is a critical role within a non-profit organization that provides financial and insurance assistance. This role is designed for a candidate who possesses a strong background in Power BI, with a focus on reporting, analysis, and providing additional support to the IT team. The organization is looking for someone who can contribute to the growth of the team and help enhance their data capabilities. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site for the first 2-3 months in Northern Virginia, after which the position will transition to a hybrid model, allowing for a mix of on-site and remote work. This flexibility is aimed at accommodating the needs of the team while ensuring that the candidate can effectively integrate into the organization. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the field, with a solid understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, coding and programming skills, and proficiency in SQL Server. The role will involve presenting findings and insights to stakeholders, making strong communication skills essential. The organization values collaboration and is looking for someone who can work well within a team environment while also being able to take initiative and work independently when required. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and present data insights effectively.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in reporting by implementing best practices in data management.
  • Work with SQL Server to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data for reporting purposes.
  • Support the IT team in the development and maintenance of the Data Warehouse.
  • Utilize SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS for data integration and reporting tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Power BI for reporting and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with SQL Server.
  • Experience with Data Warehousing concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
