About the position

LMI is seeking an experienced and skilled Power BI application developer to assist business users across the organization in the development of skills and solutions as an Army organization begins to adopt Microsoft automation tools. The Power BI Application Developer will support an Army program management office in Fort Belvoir, VA. The developer will work closely with business teams to understand their requirements, provide design recommendations, and work with business teams to implement automated processes and workflows. This role is crucial in helping the organization leverage data analytics to drive business decisions and improve operational efficiency. The Power BI Developer will collaborate with a Product Support Division (PSD) and Operations Team to identify processes for automation and recommend automated solutions. The developer will design and develop automated processes using the Microsoft Suite, SharePoint, and tools readily available to the Army through current licenses. They will utilize a full range of Microsoft Power BI features to design, develop, enhance, and support visualizations, including highly interactive dashboards, scorecards, and reports. Additionally, the developer will schedule and automate data refreshes using Power BI Service, ensuring that the data presented is always up-to-date and relevant. Documentation is a key aspect of this role, as the developer will need to document changes to processes and identify the benefits gained through automation using metrics and anecdotal examples. The developer will also compile, collate, integrate, and transform sets of data into simplified, meaningful visualizations that can be easily understood by stakeholders. By using data analytics, the developer will develop, populate, and analyze dashboards for transparent, real-time project, program, and portfolio measurement results and metrics. The role also involves routing analyses, dashboards, and performance measures to executives and managers to inform strategies and decisions. The Power BI Developer will support the transformation of business processes through automation, understanding business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements, and recommending solutions that enable the achievement of reporting goals. Maximizing the impact and utility of visualization products and enabling automation where possible is essential. Finally, the developer will provide knowledge transfer to contractor and government team members, offering one-on-one or small group training, and developing "lunch and learn" content or other knowledge transfer artifacts.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in computer science, engineering, data science, operations research, industrial engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • High level of proficiency using/creating Microsoft Power BI dashboards, workbooks, and databases; using data to drive business decisions; and building effective and engaging visualizations.
  • Experience with building, implementing, and supporting complex Microsoft Power BI visualizations.
  • Self-starter with the vision to independently identify opportunities for improvement through data analytics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
  • Three (3) years' experience in Microsoft (MS) Power BI development.
