About the position

The Power BI Developer at Hunton Services is responsible for designing, developing, and managing reporting solutions that provide actionable insights to support business decisions. This role requires advanced skills in Excel and Power BI, along with experience in ETL processes and data integration. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality data reporting and systems for various business units, particularly in the HVAC sector.

Responsibilities

• Generate and analyze reports using platforms such as Power BI, WennSoft, and CRM, providing current and historical data insights.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and Excel workbooks that aggregate data from multiple sources with minimal user manipulation.
• Identify patterns and inconsistencies in data to highlight potential areas of financial or operational concern.
• Provide data insights and collaborate with Commercial Service Business Analysts to address data discrepancies or performance issues.
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data architecture and ETL processes.
• Integrate and map data sources, ensuring smooth data flow and dimensional data modeling for reporting solutions.
• Perform data integration and troubleshoot issues within the Microsoft SQL Server BI platform.
• Document project requirements and determine appropriate reporting and ETL solutions with business and technical teams.
• Track project development progress and ensure timely delivery of reports and system updates.
• Conduct software and report testing for quality assurance and resolve issues during development stages.
• Present project updates and final products to leadership and management teams.
• Develop strategies to streamline data storage, accessibility, and reporting processes.
• Document the functionality and components of software/reports to maintain organized records.
• Monitor the operational health of reporting and data systems, performing ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
• 2-3 years of experience working with Power BI, ETL processes, and report development.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, macros, and data visualization.
• Strong working knowledge of T-SQL and familiarity with programming languages such as DAX, Python, or VBA.
• Solid understanding of the ETL process and experience with data integration and mapping.
• Expertise in Power BI for data visualization, reporting, and dashboard development.
• Experience with data warehouse solutions and operational monitoring of BI platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server BI).
• Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with financial data analysis is a PLUS.
• Microsoft certifications (e.g., Power BI, SQL Server) are strongly preferred.
