About the position

The Power BI Developer will serve as a crucial link between technology teams and business areas, focusing on troubleshooting and translating technical issues related to reports and data. This role involves enhancing reports, supporting data repositories, and ensuring high-quality data analysis and reporting solutions. The developer will be responsible for maintaining and documenting recurring processes, following best practices in data modeling, and conducting training sessions for business units.

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison between technology teams and business areas to troubleshoot and translate technical problems related to reports and report data.
• Assist business users with functional and data requirements to enhance reports and report data.
• Support business data experts on select data repositories and assist with project implementations and modifications.
• Follow best practices to support dashboards, metrics, scorecards, and reporting solutions, emphasizing customer service and collaboration.
• Investigate, review, and analyze data from multiple sources to maintain quality and understand data structures and business relevance.
• Translate business requirements into reporting and dashboard solutions that provide relevant business information in a user-friendly format.
• Monitor recurring processes to ensure output accuracy and timely distribution, and maintain documentation and enhancements of these processes.
• Perform planned maintenance on BI solutions and underlying infrastructure, including application upgrades and service packs.
• Develop and follow adequate security procedures for data handling.
• Conduct report demonstrations and training sessions for business units and developers.
• Collaborate with business unit development teams to review data model and report specifications.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience in Power BI development.
• 1-3 years of experience in complex development and scripting SQL.
• 1-3 years of experience developing with advanced Power BI tools including DAX, M, and Power Query.
• 1-3 years of experience with advanced Power BI report development techniques such as bookmarking and dynamic measures.
• 1-3 years of experience developing reports and dashboards using tools like Paginated Reports Builder and Power BI Desktop.
• 1-3 years of experience using Visual Studio and SSMS to develop Analysis Services Tabular models.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure platform and services, including Power BI and Azure SQL Data Warehouse.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Strong understanding of establishing and maintaining Row Level Security in Azure Analysis Services/Power BI.
• Expertise in database and data warehouse designs, data modeling, and ETL processes.
• Knowledge of industry concepts and methodologies within data warehouse and business intelligence.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with relational databases and the ability to create calculated members and KPIs.
• Experience with Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
