About the position

The Power BI Developer position at VDart Group is designed for an experienced professional with a strong background in Business Intelligence and data analytics, particularly with Power BI. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Power BI, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of successfully delivering BI solutions. This role involves designing and implementing robust data models that ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance in Power BI. The developer will integrate data from various sources, including on-premises databases, cloud services, and external APIs, into Power BI, optimizing data models for performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing. In addition to data integration and modeling, the Power BI Developer will be responsible for advanced analytics and visualization. This includes developing advanced DAX formulas and Power Query transformations to create complex calculations and data transformations. The developer will create visually appealing and user-friendly reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights, implementing features such as drill-through and bookmarks to enhance the user experience. Collaboration is key in this role, as the developer will work closely with data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and alignment of Power BI solutions with other data and analytics initiatives. The candidate will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and analysts, leading workshops, training sessions, and demos to promote the adoption and effective use of Power BI across the organization. Governance and best practices are critical components of this position. The Power BI Developer will establish and enforce Power BI governance practices, ensuring compliance with data governance policies, data privacy regulations, and organizational standards. Staying up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices is essential, as the developer will recommend their adoption where applicable. Continuous improvement is a focus for this role, with the developer identifying opportunities to enhance existing Power BI solutions and processes, driving innovation and optimization. Monitoring and assessing the performance of Power BI solutions will be part of the responsibilities, along with contributing to the development of a Power BI Center of Excellence (CoE) within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust data models that ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance in Power BI.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing Power BI solutions and processes, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of Power BI solutions, making recommendations for optimization and scalability.
  • Contribute to the development of a Power BI Center of Excellence (CoE) within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a similar role, with at least 3 years focused on Power BI.
  • Proven experience in architecting and delivering complex Power BI solutions for large organizations.
  • Expertise in data modeling, DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service.
  • Experience with SQL, Azure Data Services, and other data integration tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or similar certification is preferred.
  • Additional certifications in data architecture or related fields are a plus.
