About the position

Roth Staffing is seeking a Power BI Specialist for a client in the life insurance sector. This role is a contract position aimed at building a complex data model from the client's risk platform. The selected contractor will be responsible for Power BI development and maintenance, which includes managing existing report workloads, enhancing reports, and addressing new report requests. The consultant will conduct an architectural review of the current reports, devise a comprehensive plan for their reconstruction, and ensure the successful execution of this plan. The ideal candidate should possess over two years of experience in Power BI reporting and be capable of facilitating knowledge transfer to internal resources. The role requires a deep understanding of Power BI's functionalities, including the optimization of complex data relationships, the development of Power BI pipelines, and the management of change controls. Candidates should be adept at creating Power BI visuals and reports from scratch, primarily utilizing imported cloud data from SharePoint. Additionally, the consultant must be skilled in troubleshooting measures and data queries, addressing common issues such as schema changes, query errors, and authentication problems. Strong soft skills are essential for collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and develop dashboards and reports that meet their needs.

Responsibilities

• Build a complex data model from the risk platform.
• Perform architectural reviews of existing reports.
• Create a plan for rebuilding reports and follow through to completion.
• Maintain existing reports and enhance them as needed.
• Address new report requests from stakeholders.
• Optimize complex data relationships in Power BI.
• Develop and manage Power BI development pipelines and change controls.
• Create Power BI visuals and reports from scratch using imported cloud data, primarily from SharePoint.
• Troubleshoot measures and data queries, including schema changes and query errors.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for dashboards and reports.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in Power BI development and maintenance.
• Experience with optimizing complex data relationships in Power BI.
• In-depth understanding of Power BI Reports, Semantic Models, Dashboards, workspaces, development pipelines, and Apps.
• Ability to create Power BI visuals and reports from scratch with imported cloud data.
• Basic understanding of dashboard design.
• Experience working with stakeholders to gather requirements and build reports.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SharePoint as a data source.
• Soft skills to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical team members.
