About the position

The Power BI Report Developer will serve as a temporary consultant within the Enterprise Asset Management Department of the NYCT - Department of Subways (DOS). This role focuses on providing critical support for the sustainment of HxGN EAM solutions, ensuring the availability and maintenance of existing Power BI reports, and facilitating the development of new reporting solutions based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Support DOS Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) sustainment efforts, focusing on scoping BI solution sessions with business lines to capture objectives and prioritize opportunities.
• Play a primary role in the sustainment of existing Power BI solutions under the management of the DOS EAM Department.
• Extract, transform, and load data using SQL under the direction of the Report Development Lead.
• Create mock-up reports for proof-of-concept reviews.
• Support and develop activities related to end-to-end data lifecycle management, including reviewing data loads for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist DOS Business lead in developing system reporting solutions based on business needs.
• Create, validate, execute, and document test cases with the DOS Business lead.
• Assist in the development of end-user training and reference materials.
• Perform or assist in end-user training.
• Assist in implementation go-live and post-go-live activities.
• Support user requests to research system problems or errors and assist in their resolution.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5-7 years experience in using Microsoft's Power BI analytics software.
• Minimum 5 years HxGN EAM (or other EAM/enterprise data management software) experience.
• Minimum 5 years of IT related experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience developing and implementing Power BI solutions, including modeling, design, development, and testing of data visualization or paginated report solutions.
• Proficiency in Data Analysis (DAX), M, ETL (Power Query), SQL, and performance optimization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills to convey information to both technical and non-technical staff.

Nice-to-haves

• 1-2 years working experience with Railroad/Transit industry
• 3-4 years hands-on experience with enterprise data analysis
• Microsoft Power BI certifications or Azure certifications
• Experience working in an Agile project delivery model
• Understanding of complex relational database organization, design, and functionality.
