About the position

The Power BI Report Developer position is a temporary consulting role within the Enterprise Asset Management Department of the NYCT - Department of Subways (DOS). The primary focus is to provide sustainment support for data analytics related to elevators and escalators, utilizing Microsoft's Power BI software. The role involves collaborating with business lines to capture objectives, maintaining existing Power BI solutions, and supporting the end-to-end data lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Support DOS Power BI and applications sustainment efforts, focusing on scoping BI solution sessions with business lines.
• Play a primary role in the sustainment of existing Power BI solutions, ensuring availability and reliability.
• Extract, transform, and load data using SQL under the direction of the Report Development Lead.
• Create mock-up reports for proof-of-concept reviews.
• Support end-to-end data lifecycle management, reviewing data loads for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in developing system reporting solutions based on business needs.
• Create, validate, execute, and document test cases with the DOS Business lead.
• Assist in the development of end-user training and reference materials.
• Perform or assist in end-user training.
• Support implementation go-live and post-go-live activities.
• Research system problems or errors and assist in their resolution.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2-3 years experience in using Microsoft's Power BI analytics software.
• Preferable 1-2 years working experience with the Railroad/Transit industry.
• Preferable 2 years hands-on experience with enterprise data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Minimum 2 years experience with HxGN EAM or other EAM/enterprise data management software.
• Proficiency in Data Analysis (DAX), M, ETL (Power Query), SQL, and performance optimization.
• Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience working in an Agile project delivery model is an asset.
• Understanding of complex relational database organization, design, and functionality.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with enterprise data management software other than HxGN EAM.
• Familiarity with Agile project delivery models.
