About the position

The Power BI Report Developer position is a temporary consulting role within the Enterprise Asset Management Department of the NYCT - Department of Subways (DOS). The primary focus of this role is to provide critical support for HxGN EAM sustainment needs, ensuring the availability and maintenance of existing Power BI solutions while collaborating with business lines to capture objectives and prioritize opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Support DOS Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) sustainment efforts, focusing on scoping BI solution sessions with business lines.
• Play a primary role in the sustainment of existing Power BI solutions under the management of the DOS EAM Department.
• Extract, transform, and load data using SQL under the direction of the Report Development Lead.
• Create mock-up reports for proof-of-concept reviews.
• Support and develop activities related to end-to-end data lifecycle management, including reviewing data loads for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist DOS Business lead in developing system reporting solutions based on business needs.
• Create, validate, execute, and document test cases for system reporting solutions.
• Assist in the development of end-user training and reference materials.
• Perform or assist in end-user training.
• Support implementation go-live and post-go-live activities.
• Research system problems or errors and assist users in their resolution.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5-7 years experience in using Microsoft's Power BI analytics software.
• Preferable 1-2 years working experience with Railroad/Transit industry.
• Preferable 3-4 years hands-on experience with enterprise data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Minimum 5 years HxGN EAM (or other EAM/enterprise data management software) experience.
• Minimum 5 years of IT related experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience developing and implementing Power BI solutions, including modelling, design, development and testing of data visualization or paginated report solutions.
• Proficiency in Data Analysis (DAX), M, ETL (Power Query), SQL, and performance optimization.
• Ability to communicate clearly in conversation and in presentations to both technical and non-technical staff.

Nice-to-haves

• Microsoft Power BI certifications or Azure certifications are an asset.
• Experience working in an Agile project delivery model is an asset.
