About the position

The Power Distribution Reliability Engineer at Georgia-Pacific's Muskogee mill is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of power distribution systems. This role involves collaborating with various teams to optimize performance, implement preventative maintenance strategies, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime. The engineer will also lead initiatives to enhance system reliability and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing the Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA, Georgia-Pacific, state, and federal standards for all equipment and work in the assigned area.
  • Ensure that all electrical work and installations are performed in accordance with GP Standards, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70E.
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies to enhance the reliability of power distribution systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on power distribution failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor power distribution systems using advanced diagnostic tools and data analytics to identify potential issues before they lead to system failures.
  • Analyze power quality and system performance to recommend improvements.
  • Study and review oil sample reports on major transformers to determine if corrective actions are needed and ensure completion.
  • Expand and refine in-house technical capabilities in condition monitoring skills.
  • Work with other Reliability Engineers to share knowledge and develop mill-wide reliability strategies.
  • Participate and lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) efforts to identify root causes of complex problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and communicate a multiyear power distribution spend plan.
  • Validate and track financial savings or cost avoidance.
  • Provide engineering support and leadership to drive continuous improvement in power systems reliability.
  • Identify electrical distribution equipment obsolescence plan.
  • Keep the mill's power study up to date utilizing Easy Power software.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Power Distribution up to 15kV, System Grounding, Lighting Systems, Motor Controls, Variable Frequency Drives, Engineering and Construction Scope definition.
  • Experience developing and implementing maintenance strategies for electrical equipment including transformers, breakers, switchgear, and MCCs.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment in manufacturing/industrial or military environments.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing work utilizing CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Experience interpreting data from SAP, PI Vision, and contractor reports to identify possible reliability issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Electrical Engineering and/or Paper Science.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working within a pulp and paper manufacturing operation in an engineering capacity.
  • Certifications or continued education in fields of ultrasound, thermography, and/or oil analysis.
  • Certification or continued education in reliability applications, practices, and management.
  • Experience with Reliability Improvement tools (RCFA, Preventative/Predictive maintenance, KPIs, Six Sigma experience or certification).
  • Experience managing and prioritizing work utilizing SAP CMMS.
