About the position

Danfoss in Loves Park, IL is seeking candidates for our Application Engineer Trainee program. Program Participants will develop the skills and competencies to support variable speed drive and/or electrification applications in support of our North American customer base. The intent of this program is to develop a team who can win market share by solving customer issues with a technical approach. Application areas include Electrification, Water, HVAC, and Heavy Industries. This salary range for this role is $75,000-$85,000. The initial location for the Trainees will be Loves Park, IL. Upon successful completion of the trainee program, the trainee will have the opportunity to move into several potential positions including Pre-Sales Application engineering, Application Development Center support, Post-Sales Application engineering or other areas as applicable. Future location will depend on the positions available at the time of program completion. Once placed in your new position post-program, travel will be required between 30-70% of the time depending on the location and application needs of the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop application solutions which leverage our Drives product portfolio
  • Interact with key customers to understand their requirements at a systems level and provide technical support
  • Provide on-site support to the customer, which can include traveling to customer's sites when necessary
  • Develop technical documentation for applications engineering tasks
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field, or comparable technical work experience
  • Able to work collaboratively with customers and team members
  • Curious and creative (able to create innovative solutions to problems given constraints)
  • Communication skills (communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences)
  • Technical Skills (electrical systems competence - motors, power conversion, controls, communication)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High motivation to make positive contributions to the team and business
