About the position

The Power Generation Project Engineer (Electrical) role is a journey-level position focused on providing engineering and project management support for power generation and infrastructure facilities. The engineer will manage moderately complex projects, conduct risk analysis, and offer technical support to operations and maintenance staff. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, industry standards, and project management practices, along with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads design and/or project management efforts for moderately complex generation projects.
  • Provides technical support to O&M, including incident investigation and corrective actions development.
  • Controls scope, schedule, cost, and quality of designs and projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Performs and reviews engineering analyses, detailed scope, viable alternatives, and conceptual designs.
  • Collaborates with supervisors and Project Managers to prepare and evaluate contracts and proposals.
  • Interprets and applies applicable codes and regulations.
  • Approves and stamps technical reports, specifications, and drawings for projects.
  • Represents PG&E to internal and external organizations as required.
  • Identifies gaps in business practices and recommends process improvements.
  • Supports powerhouse asset family in implementing programmatic solutions and risk analysis.

Requirements

  • 4-year BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited curriculum in the US or equivalent.
  • Mastery of Associate level Project Engineer duties and demonstrated leadership.
  • Minimum of three years of cumulative experience in project engineering, design, and construction.
  • Ability to obtain California PE license within 18 months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4-year BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge and experience in Hydropower and associated electrical equipment.
  • Understanding of asset planning, condition assessment, equipment testing, and maintenance.
