About the position

The Power Plant Engineer 4 position at the Anamosa State Penitentiary involves advanced journey-level work in the operation and maintenance of the Power Plant's equipment. This role includes leading incarcerated individuals in their tasks and ensuring the efficient functioning of the facility's utility services, including emergency electrical generation, steam, water, and sewer systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced journey-level work in the operation and maintenance of Power Plant equipment.
• Lead incarcerated individuals in their tasks related to Power Plant operations.
• Ensure the efficient functioning of emergency electrical generation systems.
• Maintain steam, water, and sewer systems in the Power Plant.
• Oversee the operation of two water wells.

Requirements

• Experience equal to four years of full-time work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam generating boilers, centralized air-conditioning, or electrical power generating equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting 30 semester hours of accredited coursework in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam boilers for each year of required experience, up to a maximum of one year.
• Current continuous experience in the state Executive Branch that includes experience equal to two years of full-time work as a Power Plant Engineer 3.

• Knowledge of principles and procedures of fuel and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam generating boilers, electrical generating turbines, and generators.
