About the position

The Powerplant Engineer is responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of jet engines, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. This role involves developing work scopes, providing technical guidance, and collaborating with various teams to facilitate efficient engine repairs both in-shop and offsite. The engineer will also engage in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engine repair work scopes and associated work instructions considering service bulletins and performance requirements.
  • Review incoming records for work scope applicability and ensure execution of Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals and technical data into actionable formats for local execution.
  • Coordinate with Production and Planning to complete engine repairs effectively.
  • Initiate DRs/DICAs and engage OEM Product Support Engineering to eliminate repair process constraints.
  • Prepare Engineering Orders for repairs or alterations to engines and components.
  • Provide technical knowledge on various commercial engines, including CF6-80, PW4000, GE90, and others.
  • Participate in problem-solving to reach technical solutions.
  • Resolve technical questions from the shop regarding engines and work scopes.
  • Prepare engineering substantiation for minor repairs.
  • Analyze and develop tooling equivalents to support shop tooling constraints.
  • Recommend alternate solutions when faced with challenges.
  • Support Operations in troubleshooting assembly and repair problems.
  • Evaluate engine performance trends and provide troubleshooting recommendations.
  • Support Operations in troubleshooting rejected engines in a test cell.
  • Commit to continuous improvement programs and comply with all policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or 15 years of direct experience in Aerospace Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) or Engine OEM.
  • Minimum eight years of extensive experience with CF6, CFM56, CF34, GE90, and Trent 800 Engine Series.
  • FAA Powerplant License preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge and development skills in DER Repairs.
  • Extensive jet engine troubleshooting experience (On-wing, Ground and Test Cell).
  • Ability to decipher Engine Condition Monitoring and Trending.
  • Project & Production Management skills preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Project and Excel.
