About the position

This position supports Environmental Operations and Waxdale Central Services by performing daily Power Plant assignments. The candidate for this position will work with the Power Plant team and engineers in running the turbine and Power Plant in the safest, most efficient manner. The role requires a solid understanding of Power Plant and Turbine Operations, as well as demonstrated mechanical equipment aptitude. The candidate must be computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications and possess the ability to accurately follow detailed procedures while maintaining a neat and orderly work environment. Accurate database input and effective communication, both orally and in writing, are essential for success in this role. The Power Plant Operator will be responsible for maintaining an organized work environment that complies with ISO9000 and 14001 standards. Flexibility to manage a variety of assignments against stressful deadlines is crucial. The candidate must be a self-starter dedicated to meeting established objectives and possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. A basic understanding of environmental laws is also required, along with the ability to perform chemical water analysis and applicable preventive maintenance (PM) and equipment repairs per approved processes. The operator will manage Power Plant contractors and provide assistance as needed, while also being able to work alone while maintaining Power Plant operation. Additionally, the candidate must pass the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Hazpower training course. It is important to note that this position is not eligible for remote work. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice as assigned by the Manager. Responsibilities

  • Perform daily Power Plant assignments in support of Environmental Operations and Waxdale Central Services.
  • Work with the Power Plant team and engineers to run the turbine and Power Plant safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain an organized work environment complying with ISO9000 and 14001 standards.
  • Perform chemical water analysis and applicable PMs and equipment repairs per approved process.
  • Manage Power Plant contractors and provide assistance as needed.
  • Follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate databases input.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate mechanical equipment aptitude and basic understanding of turbine operations.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or Equivalent
  • High Pressure Stationary engineers license
  • 5 years' experience required
  • Basic understanding of Turbine operations
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Good mechanical ability
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to apply these skills in problem solving
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
