About the position

The Power Production Manager at Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority is responsible for overseeing the management, budgeting, engineering, and operations of multiple energy production facilities. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop strategies for cost reduction, operational optimization, and quality assurance, while implementing industry best practices to enhance productivity and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and manage training programs for operations and maintenance personnel at the generating facilities.
  • Respond to critical and emergency situations.
  • Review and optimize preventive and routine maintenance programs for the generating facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with operating permits and maintain appropriate record-keeping.
  • Approve manpower requirements and oversee general timekeeping for daily operations.
  • Lead and manage high-level planning and execution for planned outages.
  • Write or detail requisitions to support generating facilities.
  • Encourage a collaborative team environment and address issues proactively.
  • Uphold and enforce adherence to safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with HR on recruitment, conduct interviews, and recommend candidates for hiring.
  • Oversee plant improvements, modifications, and special projects, including both minor and major overhauls and capacity design for future plant needs.
  • Compile, prepare, and analyze budgets, production reports, and other operational documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Foster a responsive, adaptive organization that can meet evolving operational demands.
  • Supervise all aspects of production, ensuring the efficient operation of plant assets, including personnel, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assure maximum plant operability, reliability, and effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support in capital projects, plant instrumentation and controls, process analysis, and continuous improvements.
  • Manage cost budgets and cash flow by establishing, implementing, and adhering to financial and operational budgets.
  • Enhance workforce productivity through coaching, education, and training.
  • Oversee major maintenance and capital improvement projects including coordination of consultants, engineers, and contractors.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in a specialized field, such as basic accounting, and computer skills, equivalent to four years of high school, plus additional training through other trade schools or correspondence school, equivalent to two years of college.
  • 11 to 15 years of related experience and/or training.
  • 7 years of related management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with gas turbines.
  • PE, Plant Operators Certificate.
  • Facility/Plant/CPM Manager Certification (FMC).
  • EHS Facility Manager (Environmental, Health, and Safety).

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $159K to $199K per year.
