About the position

The Power Production Mechanic at Amentum is responsible for the installation, operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical power production equipment and associated components. This role involves working with various power systems, including diesel and gasoline engines, and ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical power support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, inspects, and performs modifications and repairs to electrical power support systems such as electrical power plants and power distribution equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on electrical power support systems and conducts major repairs, replacements, and overhauls of power support system components.
  • Troubleshoots electrical power support systems, including electrical power plants and power distribution equipment.
  • Maintains, inspects, repairs, diagnoses, and modifies aircraft arresting systems.
  • Maintains records and documents actions related to maintenance and repairs.
  • Performs standard computations relating to load requirements of electrical circuits.
  • Proficiently uses electrical hand tools and test and measurement equipment.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures, following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Guides and conducts on-the-job training for less experienced personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Nevada driver's license.
  • Completion of OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training and maintenance of CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a security clearance and access to work locations.
  • Must be a United States citizen and pass a pre-hire drug screening and Fit-for-Duty physical.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and respond to service calls within the allowable time frame.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle up to a 2 1/2-ton truck.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of principles of electricity (AC/DC) and solid state circuitry.
  • Knowledge of the operation of emergency generator power systems.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and technical publications.
  • Ability to apply shop procedures and provide training to others.
