About the position

In this role, you will oversee and control the safe and efficient operation of power systems for Alcoa and external entities, including the management of Potable Water Systems and various Power Equipment Maintenance contracts. You will play a key role in improving the reliability and maintenance of plant power equipment, act as a backup to the Power System Group Leader, and provide safety leadership around High Voltage Systems. Your responsibilities will include coordinating special safety initiatives, ensuring power system equipment maintains a 99% reliability, and assisting with power metering and billing contract assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and control the operation of power systems for Alcoa and external entities.
  • Manage Potable Water Systems and Power Equipment Maintenance contracts.
  • Improve reliability and maintenance of various plant power equipment.
  • Act as backup to the Power System Group Leader during absences.
  • Provide safety leadership around High Voltage Systems.
  • Coordinate special safety initiatives for High Voltage Maintenance.
  • Ensure Power System Equipment maintains a 99% reliability.
  • Assist Power Manager with Power Metering and Billing Contract Assistance.
  • Update the Massena Smelting Forecast file with accurate power bill data.
  • Supply accurate Power Reduction bids for NYISO programs.
  • Support and train personnel on the 'on-call' list to minimize power interruptions.
  • Monitor SCADA system and address any issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an associates degree or relevant experience required.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize procedures for safety regulations adherence.
  • Electrical background preferred but not required.

  • Experience in power systems management.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
