About the position

The Power Systems Electrical Engineer position at ECI involves joining the Planning and Studies team to perform a variety of electrical studies for electric utilities and renewable energy projects. The role focuses on conducting detailed analyses such as load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and more, utilizing various engineering tools. The engineer will support project development, design, and operational issues for large-scale renewable energy projects and provide services to utility and industrial clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical studies including steady state load flow, short circuit, transient analysis, harmonics, insulation coordination, and dynamic system response studies.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as PSS/e, PSLF, ASPEN Oneliner, PSS Cape, PSCAD, and EMTP-RV for analysis.
  • Assist customers with project conceptual development and support during design phases.
  • Help with equipment selection and address plant operating issues after commercial operation date (COD).
  • Develop apparatus ratings and specifications for various electrical components including transformers, circuit breakers, and inverters.
  • Conduct studies related to transmission level load additions, generation interconnections, and black start analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE); Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, and transient stability.
  • Ability to acquire a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Must meet ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
  • Must not require sponsorship for employment visa status.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with tools such as TARA, ETAP, SKM, PowerWorld, and EasyPower.
  • Advanced degrees (MSEE or PhD) in Electrical Engineering.
