About the position

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is seeking experienced Power Systems Electrical Engineers to join their Planning and Studies team. This role focuses on performing various electrical studies for electric utilities, particularly in the context of renewable energy projects and heavy industrial systems. The position offers opportunities for hybrid or remote work arrangements, depending on the applicant's experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of electrical studies including steady state loadflow, short circuit, transient analysis, harmonics, insulation coordination, and dynamic system response studies.
• Assist customers with project conceptual development, design support, equipment selection, and plant operating issues post-commissioning.
• Conduct studies related to large scale renewable energy projects (50 - 2000+ MW) such as wind, solar, and energy storage.
• Provide services to utility and industrial clients involving transmission level load additions, long range plans, generation interconnections, and black start analysis.
• Assist in apparatus ratings and specifications development for various electrical components including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and inverters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE); MSEE or PhD is desirable.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience performing electrical studies such as Load flow, Short Circuit, Transient Stability, and Insulation Coordination.
• Ability to acquire a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• Must meet ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
• Successful applicant may be subject to client mandated drug and background checking.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with tools such as PSS/e, PSLF, ASPEN Oneliner, PSS Cape, PSCAD, and EMTP-RV.
• Advanced degrees and relevant work experience in power systems engineering.
