About the position

ECI is seeking power systems engineers of all experience levels to join the Planning and Studies team. The role involves performing various electrical studies for electric utilities, particularly focusing on renewable energy projects and heavy industrial systems. Engineers will engage in studies such as load flow, short circuit analysis, and dynamic system response, utilizing various engineering tools to support project development and operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical studies including steady state load flow, short circuit, transient analysis, harmonics, insulation coordination, and dynamic system response studies.
• Assist customers with project conceptual development and support during design phases.
• Provide equipment selection assistance and address plant operating issues post-commissioning.
• Develop apparatus ratings and specifications for transformers, circuit breakers, switches, cables, and inverters.
• Conduct studies related to large scale renewable energy projects, including wind and solar energy systems.
• Engage in transmission level load additions, long range planning, and interconnection studies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE); MSEE or PhD preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience performing electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, or transient stability analysis.
• Ability to acquire a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Must meet ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
• Must pass client mandated drug and background checks.
• Must not require sponsorship for employment visa status.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with tools such as PSS/e, PSLF, ASPEN Oneliner, PSS Cape, PSCAD, and EMTP-RV.
• Familiarity with TARA, ETAP, SKM, PowerWorld, or EasyPower.
