About the position

The Power Systems Engineer will work with a large energy management and engineering automation company, focusing on developing solutions for power protection of business-critical equipment and applications. This role involves direct interaction with end customers, leading project teams, and ensuring that solutions meet technical specifications, project scope, schedule, and budget. The position requires travel to client sites, including commercial buildings, data centers, and industrial facilities, to assess customer needs and deliver tailored solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams to develop solutions for power protection of business-critical equipment.
  • Assess customers' technical needs and objectives.
  • Deliver solutions that align with project specifications, scope of work, schedule, and budget.
  • Gather end-user requirements for enhancements and develop proposals.
  • Draft technical reports and execute projects effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Power Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, or Controls Engineer.
  • Experience with power system/controls engineering including PLCs like Allen Bradley and ABB.
  • Development experience with protective relay schemes and/or controls.
  • Experience working with internal teams and external clients onsite.
  • Industry experience in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, data centers, utilities, and renewable energy sites.
  • Ability to travel 30-50% per year within the region.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in switchgear automation, electrical power quality assessment, ATO programming, relay programming and commissioning, electrical maintenance and testing, electrical power system studies, and electrical distribution design.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret engineering documents, codes and standards, and technical procedures.
  • Anticipate and communicate project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
