About the position

The Power Transmission Department Manager is responsible for leading the department in achieving its goals and objectives aligned with the company's vision and strategic plan. This role involves overseeing engineering, design, and drafting work, ensuring compliance with standards, and providing training and guidance to personnel. The manager will also handle project management, client relationships, and fiscal responsibilities, including budgeting and profitability targets.

Responsibilities

  • Provides servant-leadership to the department, practice, and company; embraces and models company values.
  • Engages the department in setting and achieving goals and objectives that contribute to the company's vision and strategic plan.
  • Ensures quality, accuracy, and completeness of departmental work in engineering, design, and drafting; compliance with standards and schedules.
  • Develops plans and specifications, performs analysis, and provides reports for new power delivery facilities or maintenance of existing facilities.
  • Handles personnel functions including recruiting, hiring, performance management, and employee development.
  • Plans and schedules work for the department, ensuring effective distribution of assignments and resources.
  • Reviews and approves timesheets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensures departmental profitability targets are achieved and maintained.
  • Analyzes fiscal requirements, prepares budgetary recommendations, and monitors expenditure of budgeted funds.
  • Develops and maintains client relationships and pursues repeat work with current clients.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Business Development to respond to new business opportunities.
  • Provides project management at a client level and negotiates complex conflicts.
  • Maintains awareness of and executes corporate policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Twelve years of related experience in design and plan production for power delivery facilities.
  • Oklahoma or Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in mathematical skills and ability to apply concepts of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including email, record keeping, and engineering design software.
  • Experience with PLS-CADD required; AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.
