About the position

Sigma Technologies is seeking a skilled Make-Ready Engineering Designer to join their supportive team. This remote position requires expertise in overhead electrical power distribution design, specifically in make-ready and joint-use design services for power utility companies. The role involves executing work orders, performing permitting duties, and collaborating with team members to solve design challenges. New hires will undergo a two-week in-person orientation at the company's headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Execute work orders for the design of power distribution infrastructure while meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
  • Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, applying established design guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Conduct permitting and easement duties, including researching pole ownership and obtaining right-of-way approvals.
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to solve design-related problems.
  • Perform quality control on others' work as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design required; 2+ years preferred.
  • Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or other related design programs required.
  • Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance; willing to undergo background checks and drug tests.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with customer-based proprietary software.
  • Familiarity with NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and OSHA regulations.
