About the position
The Power Utility Make-Ready Distribution Designer III+ position at Sigma Technologies involves providing make-ready and general distribution design services for power utility companies. This role requires skilled professionals with experience in overhead electrical power distribution design to execute work orders while adhering to quality, time, and budget constraints. The position is remote but requires an initial two-week in-person orientation at the company's headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.
Responsibilities
- Execute work orders for the design of power distribution infrastructure.
- Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design following established guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to solve problems encountered during the design process.
- Conduct permitting and easement duties, including researching pole ownership and obtaining right-of-way approvals.
- Perform quality control on others' work as needed.
- Utilize design programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other customer-specific software.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in power utility distribution make-ready engineering design required; 2+ years preferred.
- Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or related design programs is required.
- Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning procedures is necessary.
- Valid driver's license and insurance, and willingness to undergo background checks.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with proprietary customer-based software for design.
- Strong communication skills for detailed information exchange.
