About the position

The Power Sports Parts Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient management of the parts department, ensuring the dealership has the necessary inventory to meet customer demand and maintain service operations. This role involves managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of parts to both technicians and customers. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of the power sports industry, and the ability to drive operational efficiency while maintaining excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels for motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, UTVs, and related accessories.
  • Order parts from suppliers in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure the availability of required items.
  • Track inventory movements, monitor stock levels, and conduct regular physical counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Implement and maintain an efficient inventory system, ensuring all parts are organized and easy to locate.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting both technicians and customers with parts inquiries, orders, and special requests.
  • Ensure parts are delivered to the service department on time, supporting technicians in completing repairs and services.
  • Work closely with service technicians to identify parts needed for upcoming jobs and ensure they are in stock.
  • Handle customer returns, exchanges, and warranty claims in a professional manner, adhering to dealership policies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable pricing and timely delivery of parts.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to manage costs and maximize profitability while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring reliability and compliance with dealership requirements.
  • Implement systems and processes to streamline parts ordering, storage, and delivery processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient parts department, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate with other departments (sales, service, and finance) to ensure smooth operations and optimal parts availability.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and legal regulations related to the storage and handling of parts and chemicals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve inventory turnover, reduce waste, and optimize stock levels.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in parts management, inventory control, or a similar role within the power sports, automotive, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of parts management software and inventory tracking systems.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving inventory management goals, such as minimizing stockouts and reducing excess inventory.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing inventory or supply chain issues.
  • Ability to work independently, while also collaborating effectively with the service team and other departments.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, especially in tracking and managing inventory.
  • A passion for power sports and knowledge of related products is highly desirable.
