About the position

The BEV Charging Integration Lead will play a pivotal role within the Powertrain Software and Development team, focusing on the development, calibration, and in-vehicle verification of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Charging Systems. This position requires a leader who can effectively manage integration activities concerning embedded and supplier software packages specifically for North American BEV vehicles. The selected individual will be part of a global, cross-divisional team that is dedicated to creating 'Best in Class' vehicle functions, ensuring that PACCAR remains at the forefront of the commercial vehicle industry. In this role, the BEV Charging Integration Lead will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive Calibration and System Integration plans for BEV programs, ensuring that all activities align with established timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints. The individual will provide technical feedback on proposed product changes and support the embedded engineering group by defining new product requirements and engaging in software prototyping initiatives. Staying current with industry trends and system development processes is crucial, as is the ability to identify opportunities for new initiatives that enhance calibration and testing methods for improved efficiency and effectiveness. The lead will work closely with Control Systems Owners (CSOs) to maintain up-to-date corporate documents with suppliers, track supplier development software, and report on changes, issues, and debugging statuses. Additionally, the role involves aligning software specifications with hardware sample versions for build events and ensuring that PACCAR's software requirements are submitted to suppliers, holding them accountable for compliance. The BEV Charging Integration Lead will also coordinate testing, results, and communication documentation with all suppliers, requiring an in-depth functional understanding of all charging subsystems. Effective communication of technical issues and project status to all management levels is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead BEV Charging system integration activities regarding embedded and supplier software packages for North American BEV Vehicles
  • Develop and execute Calibration & System Integration plans for the BEV programs, including timing, quality, and budget
  • Provide technical feedback on proposed product changes
  • Support embedded engineering group with new product requirements definition and software prototyping initiatives
  • Stay current on industry trends and system development processes
  • Identify opportunities or provide input for new initiatives to improve calibration and testing methods for higher efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work with Control Systems Owners (CSO) to maintain living standard corporate documents with Suppliers
  • Track Supplier development software interacting with all relevant CSOs, recording and reporting changes, issues, and debug status
  • Track Supplier field software interacting with all relevant CSOs, recording and reporting changes, issues, and debug status
  • Align SW specifications with HW sample versions release and timing for build events
  • Submit PACCAR SW requirements to Supplier and hold them accountable for satisfying requirements
  • Oversee Vehicle Systems Integration of Functions for Charging
  • Coordinate testing, results, and communication documentation with all suppliers
  • Summarize technical issues and communicate project status effectively to all levels of management
  • Link and track defects in PACCAR system(s) to Supplier Software tracking

Requirements

  • BS in appropriate technical field required
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of BEV technology, vehicle applications, and standards
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols: J1939, UDS, XCP, Ethernet, CAN-bus, LIN-bus
  • Experience coordinating technical work within and between organizations
  • Knowledge of Electric Vehicle Technologies and customer usage patterns
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-directed with demonstrated high levels of resourcefulness and initiative
