About the position

The Powertrain Quality Senior Engineer at Nissan is responsible for ensuring the quality of powertrain systems, including Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) and Battery Electric Powertrains (BEV). This role involves statistical analysis of warranty complaints, collaboration with design and manufacturing teams, and the development of countermeasures for quality issues. The engineer will also analyze customer satisfaction data and manage engine phase review meetings, contributing to the overall improvement of powertrain quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks related to powertrain quality, monitoring warranty performance and customer dissatisfaction.
  • Analyze market indicators such as JD Power Initial Quality Study and Vehicle Dependability Study.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with teams to develop countermeasures.
  • Work with field quality investigation teams to create solutions for market-identified issues.
  • Analyze quality performance reports and share summarized data with project management teams.
  • Coordinate and organize phase meetings for new developments and manage related processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional-level engineering experience in the automotive industry, preferably with quality systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of ICE and Electric Powertrain components including Engine, Transmission, Inverter, Motor, Battery, and DC Converter.
  • Working knowledge of quality and problem-solving tools such as FMEA, FTA, and statistical process control.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of automobile electronic and vehicle communication networks like CAN and LIN.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and data collection instruments.
