About the position

The Principal Cyber Software Security Assurance Engineer at Northrop Grumman is responsible for ensuring the security of software applications in a DevSecOps environment. This role involves implementing security best practices, conducting vulnerability assessments, and collaborating with software development teams to enhance security measures. The engineer will work independently in an Agile setting, focusing on static and dynamic security scanning, secure coding practices, and infrastructure hardening.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Static and Dynamic security scanning of application software.
• Advise software development scrum teams on secure coding practices and security best practices.
• Perform system vulnerability scanning and remediation on various operating systems and applications.
• Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and perform software patch installations as needed.
• Ensure systems are operated and maintained according to security policies and procedures.
• Run SCAP SCANs and develop NIST 800-53a Verification Procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with relevant experience.
• 5 years of IT security experience in any field.
• U.S. Citizenship with suitability to obtain TS clearance.
• CISSP Certification.
• Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes.

Nice-to-haves

• 3 years of experience in the Defense Aerospace Industry.
• Active TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Experience working in restricted facilities and using highly sensitive IT systems.
