About the position

The PR Specialist for Media Relations and Public Relations at The Nature Conservancy is a freelance role focused on enhancing the brand's visibility and reputation through effective media relations and public relations strategies. The position requires a professional adept at securing high-profile media placements and building relationships within the industry, working approximately 15-20 hours per week, with flexible hours based on workload.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the marketing team to align pitches and outreach with overall brand and content strategy.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to promote the brand and services.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media contacts and influencers to secure coverage and amplify brand messaging.
  • Create compelling pitches for media outreach and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Monitor industry trends and news to identify potential PR opportunities and challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels.
  • Prepare press releases, media kits, and other promotional materials as needed.
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of PR campaigns and media coverage.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in media relations and public relations, ideally in a freelance capacity.
  • Strong skills in pitching and securing media placements.
  • Established relationships with editors and journalists across publications frequented by Fortune 100 executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships within industry media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of industry knowledge and current trends.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
