About the position

The AWS Specialist Solutions Architect (SSA) role is designed for technologists with deep expertise in database-driven applications and infrastructures. SSAs work within the AWS sales organization to address complex customer challenges by crafting scalable and resilient technical architectures. This position involves guiding customers through application refactoring and designing new cloud-based systems, ultimately driving revenue and growth for AWS by providing expert-level knowledge and solutions.

Responsibilities

• Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
• Provide advanced technical knowledge to domain-aligned GTM teams to unblock customers' largest and most critical business challenges.
• Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public-speaking events.
• Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best-in-class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
• Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide.

Requirements

• 10+ years design/implementation/consulting experience of database-driven applications or infrastructures
• 7+ years management of technical, customer-facing resources
• 7+ years of Oracle Database implementation, operations and/or solution deployment experience in a business-critical, high-availability context
• 5+ years of implementation, operations and/or solution deployment on OCI
• 10+ years of running workloads on Exadata
• 10+ years of implementation, operations deployment of Oracle RAC-based solutions
• Hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA, data warehouse architect or database developer
• Knowledge of the underlying infrastructure requirements such as Networking, Storage, and Hardware Optimization
• Implementation and tuning experience of Databases including knowledge of Schema Design, Query Tuning and Optimization, Data Migration and Integration
• Bachelor's degree or Advanced Technical degrees in computer science, software engineering, or mathematics; working knowledge of modern software development practices such as agile methodologies and DevOps

Nice-to-haves

• History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
• Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers
• Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
• AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise
• Computer Science/relevant degree and/or experience highly desired
• Executive speaking and presentation skills - Formal presentations, white boarding, large and small group presentations
• Track record of implementing AWS, Azure, OCI services in a variety of business environments such as large enterprises and start-ups
• Analytics layer experience including Dashboards, Reporting, and OLAP
• Understanding of application, server, and network security is highly desired
• AWS, Azure and/or OCI Certifications
• Exposure to Oracle Apps
